“Last night, I was sitting with my gran and mum in the outskirts of Edinburgh when a ghost story was mentioned on TV. I told them a story that I had experienced when I was younger with my mum and little sister. My mum got all hyped up and told me that she had also been thinking about that day for years but never mentioned it because she thought we were young and had forgotten all about it.
Six years ago, when I was 16, I lived in a small town in the Balearic Islands, Spain. The town was rustic and my street had both a chapel and a church. This may be irrelevant, I am not a man of god, but I reckon spirituality may be connected to religion.
There was a massive power-cut throughout the island. The locals always sat outside on deck chairs and spoke till late at night. I had just been picked up from school and my young sister, who was 6 at the time, was admired by the locals and she always sat outside and accompanied the old neighbors. My mum and I were bored as there was no electricity in the house so we also joined my sister outside. Due to arriving home late in the evening and the town being lost in the mountains of la Tramuntana, it was pitch black and we could barely see anything beyond what a small battery powered lamp could illuminate.
I stared down my street and it was pitch black. Suddenly, I saw two blue transparent heads slowly floating towards us. They looked old and from a previous generation. One had a top hat, monocle, and moustache. The other had a long beard and wore no accessories. I stared at them, shocked for a few seconds, till I tapped my mum and she told me to let her be as she was in mid conversation. I shook her and told her to look and she went quiet and said ‘Shit!’. The neighbors turned around and stood up and as soon as they did the heads turned around and hovered in the opposite direction. The neighbors picked up the lamp and when it illuminated the street, the faces disappeared.
I’ve been wondering about this experience ever since it happened. It could have been a prank, but I do not believe that anyone in my town had the equipment to create such perfect holograms which could move up and down a street creating no sound at all. The power-cut was unpredictable, and sudden and therefore no one could have planned the prank with such short notice. I find it hard to believe in ghosts and therefore think there could have been many explanations to what had happened that night. But 6 years later I still haven’t managed to figure it out.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any explanation to what this could have been?”
