Reader Submission: Crashes in the Night

“I’ve been living in my home for about 13 years now and have never had anything paranormal happen to me personally. My mother and sister have always said they have strange feelings, but I cannot say I’ve felt the same until a few weeks ago.

While sitting upstairs in my room, I heard a glass break in the kitchen downstairs. Knowing my sister was home, I expected to hear her curse in anger, but I didn’t hear a word. I went down to bring some dishes to the kitchen and check on the noise. I found a shattered glass sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor. Wondering why my sister hadn’t cleaned the mess, I asked her about it. She said she thought I’d broken the glass. Strange as it was, I just thought the glass might have slipped out of the dry dish tray. But honestly, that was unlikely.

We laughed it off, and it was a running joke for a couple of days. However, one night, at around 4:00, I was drunkenly heating up food in the microwave when all of a sudden I heard a crash from downstairs and stuff hitting the wall. My sister ran into the kitchen to see what I had done, but it was nothing I’d caused.

I was honestly too scared to go check out the noise that night, so I checked the next day. Flipped over and crashed against the wall was one of the heavy plastic storage boxes we used for clothing and other items. There was no way this box could have hit the wall if it fell over on its own.

Nothing else has happened yet, and I hope nothing ever does.”
