Reader Submission: The Little Girls

“This happened at my old house in Staten island in 2002 when I was only 15. Me and my friend were walking outside to the park. It was late in the day so by the time we got to the park it was kind of dark. We decided to stay anyways and just tell our parents to pick us up.

So we were just there sitting on the swings and listening to music when we heard an ice cream truck. We turned around to see if it was behind us, but when we looked there was nothing. We decided we were just hearing things so we quickly forgot it. Then we heard the sounds of kids playing, and the swings started moving next to us. We got freaked out and decided to walk home since our parents weren’t coming any time soon.

On our way back home, we saw something in front of us, something that looked like a man in a long, drenched coat. However, the closer we got, the farther away he became. When he eventually disappeared, we heard the same people that we thought we’d heard swinging at the park. When we turned around, we saw two little school girls who were around 6 or 7 years old. The girls kept waking behind us and they didn’t disappear like the man in the coat. We walked faster and faster, and we eventually started running, but the girls were still there and getting closer

When we finally got to my house we locked the doors and ran upstairs. When we opened the door to my room, we saw the two little girls sitting on the floor and playing with dolls. They looked right at us and said ‘come play’ before getting up and jumping out of the window. That was the last time we saw them, but they left their dolls. We now keep those dolls in the attic, should they ever return.”
