Reader Submission: Paranormal Encounter at Yosemite?

twilight forest

“Summer of 1994. I was a seasonal employee of Yosemite National Park and was housed in a residence near the base of Yosemite Falls in Yosemite Valley.  There were several of us housed there and we all felt somehow that something was watching us. There might be some movement in the corner of an eye as you entered a room, but when you looked nothing was there.

My room was at the end of a hallway, with a door on one side that led up to a second story by way of stairs. That door was kept locked since nobody was allowed on the second story.  One night, my car alarm went off and I moved through the dark house to the porch and down to disable the alarm.  I had no difficulty moving through the dark hallway going out, but coming back to my bedroom I ran smack into the stairway door that for some inexplicable reason was now open across the hallway.  Rubbing my forehead ruefully, I closed that door and climbed back into bed.

Within a minute or two, that hallway door slammed and a thumping noise ran up the stairway behind it.  I stayed in bed.  The next day I was telling my story to a friend in my room when the closet door unlatched by itself and opened fully, emitting a small squeaking sound. This residence is still in the Valley residential area where all the housing was built over the primal sites of Ahwahnichee villages and graveyards.”
