Thousands of users have shared their creepy tales over the years, discussing everything from Bigfoot and UFOs to demons and hauntings. Here are five chilling tales to recently emerge on the site. The Rocking Horse

“One night when I was maybe 10 – 12 I had trouble falling asleep. My bedroom was the entire top floor of our house with my bed and such being on the left side and storage closets and a play area being on the right.

I was lying in bed when I heard a noise from the other side of the room and saw a rocking horse begin to rock. It was sitting just outside one of the storage closet doors. It proceeded to rock its way halfway across the room and stopped dead under the ceiling light. At this point I was freaking out and just buried my head under the blankets and never peeked out again until morning.

It was all confirmed to not be a dream as the rocking horse was still in the middle of my room when I woke up. Furthermore, I got a stern reprimand from my parents for being up out of bed playing with my toys well past my bedtime. Their bedroom was directly below the storage closet/play area and had heard the creaking of the rocking horse shuffling across the room.”

Reader Submission: The Ghost Boy

“I wanted to share a story with you, hopefully with feedback, because a lot of weird things have been happening lately and we don’t know what’s going on. I have two stories and am wondering if they’re connected.

My first experience with a ghost happened when I was about four years old and living in Colorado in base housing. I used to have a friend named J.J. He was my age and wore footie pajamas every time I saw him. I thought he was the neighbor’s kid and we would always talk in the closet. I remember his face and remember him as a real person, but years later I found out there never was a J.J. My parents told me they thought I was talking to a ghost because J.J. never existed. I would just be talking in the closet by myself.

My parents also told me a lot of stories about hearing a kid running around in that house while we were sleeping and toys randomly going off. They even have a picture of me in that house with a huge white orb around my legs, one that’s transparent. But after we moved all of that stopped.

Ghost Photo: Pub Phantom

A ghostly being or a hoodie-wearing hoodlum? This video comes from the Ye Olde Man & Scythe in Bolton, England.

Dating back to 1251, the business is Britain’s fourth oldest pub and reportedly home to a few spirits including a ghostly child, a phantom dog, and James Stanley, the Seventh Earl of Derby. On February 14, 2014, the manager of Ye Olde Man & Scythe discovered the CCTV had stopped working overnight and reviewed the footage to see why.

“We checked the footage and it revealed this figure,” manager Tony Dooley told the Manchester Daily News. “I’m a bit of a skeptic when it comes to ghosts but you become a believer when you see things like that.”

UPDATE: HERE’S AN EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM MANAGER TONY DOOLEY

“Man and scythe manager here. It was not a burglar. In my own words….

On Thursday 13th Feb 2014 I closed locked and chained up the doors from the inside. I swept and tidied the bar. Turned off the lights. I went upstairs and put the alarm on. I went to bed. I awoke at around 0615 on Friday 14th Feb 2014 to a noise In the pub. After disabling the alarm I went downstairs. Upon coming into the pub I turned on the lights. At that point I found a fosters glass broken and no where near where it should be. Then I checked the doors and windows. No disturbances found. I then checked the CCTV. After viewing it a few times I gave it to my boss.

Also to set the record straight.

There’s no road facing the pub. There’s no curtains in the pub.
There’s no lighting left in except emergency lights which are a legal requirement.”

“Here is a true experience I’d like to share with you. This happened when I was 17 years old.

My family and I moved to a very old rental home. The first six months were okay, but as the days passed, strange things started happening. My mother always used to say that she saw someone moving around the house.

Once, a very horrifying thing happened to me. I remember that my brother-in-law came for dinner one night. We used to have a maid that stayed with us. We were all having dinner at the table, and our maid was having dinner sitting on the floor. We all saw her having dinner on the floor. Suddenly, the maid was standing near our main door. We all got frightened as one girl cannot be at the two places at the same time. After a minute, she disappeared from the main door. My father said that maybe it was our imaginations.
