Ghost Photo: Graveyard Ghoul?

ghost charleston sc

The filtered photo above comes from the Unitarian Church graveyard in Charleston, SC. The same unfiltered photo is posted below. According to the original source, a site called Jeff and Kim’s Love Shack, a couple visited the cemetery in 2004 and captured this female form in the background.

Is it really a human figure? Or merely a trick of a shadow and light? The infamous female serial killer, Lavinia Fisher, was reportedly buried in the Unitarian graveyard, and the photographers wonder if the ‘woman’ in the photo might be her. What do you believe?

Reader Submission: A Mysterious Call

aviation museum

Kansas Aviation Museum

“I am the director of the Kansas Aviation Museum which is housed in the historic Wichita Air Terminal, constructed between 1929 and 1933. I had worked as manager on duty for a wedding reception one Saturday night. The last guest departed at about 2 a.m. I turned out all the lights, locked up, and got in my vehicle to head home.

I had gone about half a mile when my cell phone rang. It was the museum fax number. Now, I was the last person out of the museum, and I had been gone not more than two minutes. Who could have gone into the museum in that amount of time and then why would they call me from our fax line? These were the questions that ran through my mind as I swung my car around and headed back to the museum.

Reader Submission: The Bloody Rope

drk_trees

“My wife is from the Beaufort, SC area and we would camp at Hunting Island. After dark, we would go to Fort Fremont and walk down to the beach. Around midnight we’d sit near a tree hoping to see the Land’s End Lights. We never saw the lights, but we once shined a flashlight up a tree and saw a rope tied around a big branch which goes over the road and hangs down about a foot.

At the end of the rope, was a few inches of red stain that looked like blood. Thinking it must have been hard to get the rope tied that high in the tree, and feeling it was someone’s prank, we came back early the next morning to take a picture. However, the bloody rope was no longer there. I know the area, and I know we were at the right tree. I’m not saying it was anything supernatural, but if it was a prank someone went through a lot of trouble to put the rope there then take it back down. Has anyone else seen this?”

Ghosts: Beings from Another Dimension?

ghost hand

I just finished Carl Sagan’s Cosmos and his overview of the idea of a fourth dimension got me wondering if ‘ghosts’ and other so-called paranormal phenomenon could be tied to other planes of existence.

In the footnotes of “The Edge of Forever” chapter, Sagan says: “If a fourth-dimensional creature existed it could, in our three-dimensional universe, appear and dematerialize at will, change shape remarkably, pull us out of locked rooms, and make us appear from nowhere.”

Sagan also discusses the Flatland concept (see video below), describing how three-dimensional creatures would appear to those in a two-dimensional universe. In short, the three-dimensional beings would seemingly appear and disappear, and their voices, if they could talk, would appear to come from nowhere.

Unknown beings appearing and disappearing from nowhere, voices from beyond…to me, that sounds like an awful lot like ghosts. Could it be that ‘ghosts’ are actually beings from another dimension? Most scientists, including Sagan, do not believe in the paranormal, but perhaps the traditional idea of ghosts is wrong. Perhaps ‘ghosts’ aren’t lost souls or demons, but something from another dimension that we can’t see or understand. Or perhaps they are souls and demons who reside in a different reality.

What do you think?
