“My fiancé and I were living in an apartment and after about six months, weird things started to happen.

My fiancé (now husband) is a truck driver and is out of town at times. One such time, I went to bed and had my back to the room. My dog was sound asleep beside me and I heard a muffled child’s voice right behind me. I rolled over to look and nothing was there.

A few days later, my husband was home and he was in the washroom and heard a woman’s voice. Thinking it was me, he opened our bedroom door and both the dog and myself were sound asleep.

Ghost Photo: The Borley Rectory Brick

In 1944, a photographer from Life magazine visited the infamously haunted Borley Rectory and snapped this pic of a brick floating in mid-air. Do you think it’s legit or an obvious fake?

Once known as “The Most Haunted House in England,” the Borley Rectory was reportedly home to a number of spirits, including the ghostly monk pictured here. Strange events at the Victorian mansion included unexplained footsteps, flickering lights, mysterious tapping sounds, and bells that rang when no one was around. A fire destroyed the home in 1939.

Tampa’s Haunted Oaklawn Cemetery

I’ve visited several cemeteries in Savannah, Beaufort, and Charleston (many more than once), but today was the first time I visited a reportedly haunted cemetery in my own hometown: Tampa’s Oaklawn Cemetery.

Described as the final resting place for “white and slave, rich and poor,” Oaklawn is Tampa’s oldest cemetery at approximately 164 years old. Several prominent Tampa families rest in the historic cemetery, as do pirates, slaves, soldiers, and victims of yellow fever. Given the cemetery’s age and the stories of its residents, it’s hardly surprising that Oaklawn has a haunted reputation.
