Reader Submission: The Haunted Painting

creepy painting“When I was 18, my wealthy older brother moved me and our parents into his house so he could move closer to work and so we would get out of the crappy neighborhood we were in. This house was only six years old and held no paranormal experiences like our old house did… until about a year late

My dad frequently uses eBay and bought an old painting. He was really excited and presented it to me and my mom. The colors were very vibrant and pretty, but the actual picture was ugly. It was of a little girl holding a pear. The little girl looked like an alien and was unproportional. It was just weird. My dad hung the painting on the landing that led upstairs to my room. ‘Wonderful,’ I thought.

The Haunted Jail in Charleston, SC

mysterious universeBuilt in 1802, Charleston’s Old City Jail housed some of the state’s most infamous criminals, including rebellious slaves, 19th-century pirates, and Lavinia Fisher, America’s first female serial killer. Thousands of inmates died within the structure’s imposing walls and it’s these tormented spirits that reportedly haunt the old building today.

Is Ellis Island Haunted?

On January 1, 1892, Ellis Island opened it doors to U.S. immigrants. The U.S. Bureau of Immigration processed 12 million immigrants at Ellis Island before the facility shut down in 1954, but not everyone found their happy ending. Over 3,000 immigrants died on the island during its 62-year run, and rumor has it some of them still haunt the historic property.
