Universal Studios to Recreate Silent Hill at Halloween Horror Nights

It may be the middle of July, but Universal Studios is already promoting the annual fright fest known as Halloween Horror Nights (HHN). While past HHNs have featured disturbed doctors and fractured fairy tales, this year’s guests will explore Silent Hill, the demented town featured in the popular video game and horror movie franchise by the same name.

” Silent Hill has terrified fans for over a decade by pioneering the psychological horror genre,” said Careen Yapp, Vice President Acquisitions and Franchise Development of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “Now we’re giving fans the next evolution of terror as we work with the Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights teams to create a real world Silent Hill experience just as terrifying as the fans have come to expect.”

The Silent Hill-themed event, held at both Universal parks, will feature haunted mazes, hundreds of “scare actors,” and appearances by some of the franchise’s most chilling characters, including the deformed nurses and the executioner. The event will coincide with the release of Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, in theaters October 26. The film stars Sean Bean, Deborah Kara Unger, Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, and Carrie-Ann Moss.

“This is our first partnership with a video game property and we are very excited to create an unparalleled, all-new level of horror for our guests,” Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort, said in a statement. “We can’t wait to watch our guests actually walk into the hell that is Silent Hill.”

On a personal note, I absolutely love the Halloween events put on by major theme parks! My husband and I go to Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream every year, and it never gets old. Even for a couple of old farts in their thirties. I’m not familiar with the Silent Hill franchise, but Universal Studios typically does a great job so I imagine this year’s HHN will be pretty terrifying. Does anyone else love Halloween theme park events as much as I do?

Halloweekends

Cedar Point’s Halloweekends offers frights and fun for the whole family. Adults and older children can get their thrills in the park’s haunted houses and scare zones, while families and young children can enjoy Halloweekend’s shows, parades, and pumpkin patches.

Coney Island Nights of Horror

Offering rides, games, chills, and thrills, Coney Island’s Nights of Horror runs October 15 – October 31.
