Ghost Photo: Gaol House Ghost

Taken at the Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast, Ireland, this photo appears to show a figure standing in the doorway.

“It was the wing [where] I felt the most weird and unsettled in and it was freezing cold,” the woman who took the photo told local news papers. “Then this shows up on the pictures.”

More than 17 men were executed at Crumlin Road Gaol, including a notorious IRA terrorist. In addition to violent criminals, the jail has also housed suffragettes, political prisoners, and children from poor families caught stealing. Could the figure in the photo be one of them?

Ghost Photo: Haunted Inveraray Jail

Built in 1820, Scotland’s Inveraray Jail has a haunted reputation. Is the white shape above a ghost?

“Over the years, many visitors to the former prison have complained of uneasy feelings, strange noises and, in some cases, taken photographs which later show unexplained images,” the jail reports.

Ghost Photo: Cork City Jail

Skidmore Photography snapped these photos at Ireland’s Cork City Jail (or Gaol). The photo on the left shows nothing, while the photo on the right, taken just seconds before, shows something very odd. Could it be a ghost? A ghostly woman in green allegedly haunts the Cork City Gaol, though details about the legend are scarce. What do you make of the photos?

The Haunted Jail in Charleston, SC

mysterious universeBuilt in 1802, Charleston’s Old City Jail housed some of the state’s most infamous criminals, including rebellious slaves, 19th-century pirates, and Lavinia Fisher, America’s first female serial killer. Thousands of inmates died within the structure’s imposing walls and it’s these tormented spirits that reportedly haunt the old building today.
